Well, I am obsessed with everything baby now, which is to be expected, I suppose. I spend a lot of time searching websites like whattoexpect.com, babycenter.com and Chinese Gender Predictors (which say I'm having a girl...what do YOU think?)
I thought it'd be fun for Baby Wilson to grow up in a jungle. Wouldn't that be exciting? Mankato was a jungle of sorts, but I missed out on confrontations with giraffes. So my child doesn't deal with the same deprivation, I purchased these wall stickers.
I think the zebra is my favorite. Lynn is partial to the lion. We'll put them on the wall at some point... |
In an effort to reach out to other DC moms, I had lunch with some colleagues with little ones, Sara and Jen. Sara told me about this great semi-annual consignment sale. I had hoped to meet some friends in line. While I struck up a few conversations, nobody said the magic words, "Hey, you seem super cool. Let's be best friends!" But, I will try again.
Look at that line! Wait....it gets worse. See below! |
Can you imagine? None of these people asked me to be their friend. |
Some of my booty from the sale! Since we don't know the gender yet, I focused on yellow, white and green. But, I couldn't resist the pink outfit. Little boys can wear a pink, right? |
Lynn thought I should probably do something other than baby-related activities. So we headed to the Dulles Air and Space Museum and had a grand ol' time.
I know what you're thinking. "Why does Briggs look so fashionable and cute?" The answer is simple: I'm wearing clothes that Jenn gave me. |
Briggsy Bump at 18 weeks. |
Baby update: As of Friday, September 26, I have been confident that I've felt some kicks! As Jodi put it, it felt like a puppy rolling around. Since that puppy roll, the movements have been smaller - little flutters and sputters. I love it. Whenever I feel it, I stop what I'm doing and just pay attention. I wonder what my little one is doing in there? Swimming? Punching? Round House Kicking?
Additionally, I turned a corner on my nausea on Thursday, September 18. I'm not 100%, but I feel human again. I can eat what I want to, including stuff I hadn't been able to tolerate since July: spinach salads, avocados, beets, peppers, apples, etc. It's glorious.
Also, it doesn't look like I've grown much since 16 weeks, but the baby has. I've actually lost a bit of weight - the weight I put on while nauseous and eating only carbs, eggs and milk came off. But, the baby is now about 6 inches long and weighs around 6 oz. So, the bump is more of a "bump" now.
You're right. Mankato is a jungle! I'm glad that your child won't grow up missing out on giraffes.
ReplyDeleteWell, to all the other moms waiting in line who passed up the opportunity to be your new best friend, I say "you lost out!". You rock!
You look great! Obviously, pregnancy is a good look for you. :)
You go Momma. Not to worry. We'll be your friends. Love, Mom and Dad
