Williamsburg 2016 - A Special Edition

Since 2010, Lynn and I have visited Williamsburg almost every fall.  This year, there were two reasons to go: 1. Let Nova experience Williamsburg and 2. Let Briggs compete in a triathlon!

On Saturday, September 10, before we headed to Colonial Williamsburg, Lynn wanted to go to the water park.  Nova wanted to learn about collisionless shock waves, but eventually finally gave in.

Then, we walked the path from the hotel to the Colonial area, and Nova got the best view from Lynn's shoulders.

We got a family nice family photo.....But two seconds later, Nova biffed it on the cobblestone sidewalk.  For the rest of this posting, you'll see the big lip she won during the battle with the sidewalk.

Enjoying the William and Mary library.

Then, we went to the William and Mary campus where an outdoor yoga class was being held.  Without paying the fee, Nova joined in.  Watch this video, but don't tell the instructor.

Trying out my swim cap during the pre-race training session Saturday night.

Then, it was race day!  Lynn and I decided that he and Nova shouldn't come for the race.  So I took a few photos throughout the experience to keep them updated.
Before the Race: My bike and gear are all ready to go!

Selfie #1: Pre-race game face.  I am intimidating.

Selfie #2: This is after the swim and before the run.  I swam the 750 meters in just under 20 minutes.  This is about half the pace of the fastest swimmer, who clocked in under 10 minutes. Oh well, on to the bike ride!

Selfie #3: After the bike and before the run.  I don't know my bike time, but I placed 10th out of 14 in my age group, so it couldn't have been good. But, lots of fun. I even made a few friends out on the road.

Selfie #4: All done!  I finished my 5K in under 26 minutes, which was my goal.  I was 4th out of the 14 in my age group for my running time, which vindicated me!  A new pal took my photo.
Such fun!

After the race, Nova wanted to wear my goggles.  A future triathlete if I ever saw one!

Then, it was back to the splash park.

Thanks for a great trip, Williamsburg!
