Lynx is 18 months!

I can barely even stand how proud I am of our little Lynx.  He is coming into his own more and more every day.

He's sweet as can be, until he takes a swing at one of us.
Like here.  Lynx smacked me in the face with a toy.  He was not even mad at me.  Eesh.  But, now I have a nice mug shot.

Lynx cleans up when we ask him to. It's nothing short of a miracle.  And he'll stay focused on the task for minutes at a time.

Nova loves to tell us all of her thoughts.  The stream of consciousness is wonderful.  She is darling.
Here she's telling us about fluoride.

Nova's Christmas program. At first she was pretty hesitant, but after she saw me, and after she started singing, she was good to go. And, as you can imagine, it was sensational and adorable.

Lynx and Nova are sitting on either side of our buddy Susan.  She moved from our neighborhood this summer, and we miss her dearly.  Nova always talks about giving Susan presents.

At first, neither child was quite up to the task of sitting on Santa's lap.  But I was happy to show off my green socks and take a few photos with them.

At the end of the party, Santa was about to leave.  Susan's mom said, "Did Nova want to sit on Santa's lap?" And, I responded, "No, I've asked her a lot, she's had lots of chances, but she's not interested.  Thanks, though." Nova overheard me, and came over immediately.  She said, "I brave enough now, mama." So we walked over, and she was totally cool about it, as you see above.
The only things she's asked for Santa to bring are a trumpet and candy canes.

This is a yoga pose!  I did not catch him in the middle of a tumble!  I've been running and lifting a lot since early December, so I've been trying to incorporate some yoga and stretching in the mornings, while the kids and I wait for preschool or activities to begin. (You know, they're up at 6:30, but nothing opens until after 9. Lots of time for stretching.)  Nova has gotten quite good, and Lynx is picking up a few moves too.  But, of course, they mostly just enjoy climbing on me.

When your mother has no standards for cleanliness, this can happen.

They were SO HAPPY.

At Lynx's 18 month appointment, we learned a few interesting things.
First, his hemoglobin is a little short of normal.  11.3 is normal, and he's at 11.2.  So, I'm supposed to give him more iron, which I am.  In fact, his next meal was sausages and a spinach (berry, orange juice and banana) smoothie. Two of the three things the doctor told me to give him.

Second, he hasn't grown in the last three months, which I think is untrue.  Last week, I transitioned him out of his 18 month pants and into 2T stuff because the former stuff was looking ridiculous.  But, who knows. According to our wall of measurements, he's taller than Nova was at 2.

Third, the doctor thinks he may have a bit of a speech delay.  I thought she may say so, because he's not where he's supposed to be.  But, I am not worried about him, because he is just a very chill guy.  He's always listening.  He is responsive and thoughtful.  He can follow multi-step instructions. And, he's a whiz at animal sounds.  If you watch the video, you'll see that he immediately responds to my request for an animal sound, like Kaia used to.  But, unlike Kaia, his sounds are a bit off.  My thinking is that he's been working so hard on running, jumping, climbing that he hasn't had time to develop his mouth muscles.  I've signed him up for speech therapy, so we'll see what they say.

But, I can't just leave it up to the specialists.  After the appointment I immediately started working on his language development. I asked him to say "up" and he said "aub" five or six times, but then said "up" without a problem.  He was so proud.  Same with "nay". He can now say "nay" like he should.  So, I think a little more emphasis on talking will get him back on track.

His Fontanel hasn't closed quite yet, but the doctor now says that it isn't an issue until he's 2.  I'm not worried about that, either, because it's SO CLOSE.  We WERE worried in June when it was gaping.  But, it made major progress over the summer and is just the size of the tip of my finger now.

In conclusion, the appointment was eventful.  I'm not worried, but I also can't help but work on his speech immediately and somewhat aggressively.

Regarding his stats, here they are:
Head circumference: 19.5 inches (still huge)
Height: 33 inches (75%)
Weight: 26.2 lbs. (60%)
