December 2023

December 10 is Lynx's half birthday, so he's now 6.5! To celebrate, each kid got to pick out one Christmas gift and open it on his half birthday. We captured it on video. It's...underwhelming. hahah!

A BIG highlight of the month was the Reindeer Meet on December 2-3. It was in Falls Church, VA so we stayed at a hotel for the adventure, which the kids loved. I didn't sleep, but who cares about me!?! Anyway, below are pics of the kids with their buddies, and HERE'S the playlist of their swimming events. They both did a great job.

This December, Nova got COVID! Lynn was out of town for work, but luckily she wasn't too bad. She got sick on a Thursday at 4 am, spent all of Friday laying down (because if she got up, she was dizzy). She barely ate or moved. But she said she was 90% better on Saturday! She still quarantined for the five required days, and then wore a mask for the next 5 days.

On the last day of school before Christmas break, we brought donuts (and gluten-free muffins) to Nova's class! She's wearing the mask because this was day 7 of getting COVID.

While she was sick, we got to spend some quality time together! Here she is jumping on a stone during a little mom-daughter walk. Lynx was at school....Lynn in San Francisco.

Nova and Lynx are on the same soccer team. While Lynx played, Nova hung out with me in the van on this fine Sunday morning during her COVID stint. We had a GREAT time! She had brought a bag full of random stuff, so we played 20 questions to see if we could choose what the other person was thinking of.

The day after she got COVID, Santa came on the firetruck! She was tired, but managed to wait outside for over an hour! Tough girl.  Here's a video of Santa coming to town!

So cute.

This is Day 1 of COVID.

Lynx also experienced a little discomfort in December.  During recess, a boy was whipping a jump rope around and slashed Lynx across the cheeks. All reports from school say that he was pretty hurt, but handled it like a champ. Always the stoic, he held in his tears and stayed in school for the rest of the day. I Offered to pick him up, but was rebuffed. He healed really quickly!

It's so nice when they help with chores!

We went to Chipotle for some reason. For the life of me, I can't remember why. hahah.

Sleepover!

They wanted to take their shirts off. dunno why!

It's been so mild, we took a little walk in the woods behind Peachwood Park.

Prepping for Christmas!

Lynx is in the orange cap. His buddy/doppleganger is in the white.

I mean...does it get any cuter!

One of Nova's amazing friends, Mackenzie was at this Reindeer meet too! Nova had so much fun with her.

And another friend, Lucy! Lucy is also on RMSC and is a fantastic swimmer!

And another friend! Olivia is also on RMSC, and as a 7 year old, is faster than most 8 year olds! Amazing!

Ready for swimming!!

While waiting for a private swim lesson, Lynn reads them some Dogman books. They're obsessed.

Prepping for Christmas!

More chores!
