Nova's First Day of Preschool - 3s

Nova had a great first day of preschool!

Orientation was Wednesday, September 5 and Nova was quite intimidated. Orientation is just an hour of playtime where the teacher takes their photo and the parents stay around to help them acclimate.  Nova did not leave my leg.  Then, when she told Dad about the experience, she said, "I didn't want mommy to be there.  Only the teachers."  ??  Silly girl.

But, she was ready for the first day on Friday, September 7!!  She had no problems at drop off, and told me afterward that she enjoyed her day.  You know, because Mom wasn't there to ruin it.
Nova is all set with her new "preschool shoes" and the dress she picked out.  Lynx is sporting clothing - a good sign that his mother is outrageously successful at parenting.

My gorgeous girl!

Here, Nova is putting her tote bag away in her cubby.  In the 3s class, cubbies are labeled with their names, and since Nova can now recognize her name, she knew where the tote goes.  I love watching her make these connections in the world!  Progressing toward independence is so thrilling.

This photo was taken by the preschool director during her first day.  It's nice to see her comfortably playing in and around other kids.

Later that day, Nova got put in a few time outs.  Lynn and I have started putting Lynx in timeouts too.  Lynx doesn't get it, as is evidenced by this photo, where he put himself in timeout with Nova.

(See? He's missing pants here.  A less than successful parenting moment.)

  1. Woo hoo! Way to go, Nova. Now, if mom would just stop ruining your days. ;) Independent kids are so much fun!

    Also, pants are totally overrated.
